The Best Cars from California’s Ultimate Week-Long Car Show
One week a year, automotive enthusiasts converge on California’s Monterey peninsula for a series of amazing shows. Concorso Italiano is like one day trip to Italy, with Ferrari red blanketing the golf course on which it is held. The Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca is the spot to see vintage racing and race machines. The Quail will run you $400 for one ticket—it’s unbelievably expensive, but attracts some of the most interesting cars of the week. And the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance is the premiere event of the weekend. We attended all four, plus the Concours d’Lemons—a lighthearted spoof of Pebble Beach that draws some of the strangest cars we’ve ever seen. Here are some of the coolest rides we saw in Monterey this year.

1966 Shelby Cobra
Remember the 1976 cult classic car movie The Gumball Rally? The film’s Shelby Cobra turned up at the Monterey Motorsports Reunion after 35 years in hiding. The car has only 19,810 original miles.
